Stitches From the Heart is a 501(c)(3)organization, in
other words we are a non-profit group, made up entirely of volunteers
and funded by donations. It may sound hard, and while it is certainly
not easy, the feeling that comes with helping another human being, so
desperately in need of help, is more reward than can be measured. When
we see the photos, read the letters, hear the stories of how these tiny
booties, hats, sweaters and blankets bring such a sense of security and
peace, we are driven more and more to give more and more. If you are here
reading this you obviously care too and want to help. First of all thank
you, from us, and the little souls and their families who need help. There
are several ways that you can help.
How to Join and Help
1. If you knit, quilt or crochet, you can become a part
of the 12,000+ women and men across the United States that
provide more than 1,088 hospitals and charities nationwide
with over half a million hats, booties, and other items for the more than
436,000
babies born prematurely in America each year. By using yarn/supplies you
may have around the house, and patterns for premature bodies*, you are
ready to be a member. Simply contact us and we will inform you where the
nearest branch of our organization is, or help you to start a branch in
your hometown. Be sure to leave as much information as possible, such
as first and last name, phone number, address for our mailed newsletter,
and e-mail address if applicable. (* we provide many patterns
sent by members.)
2. If you do not knit, quilt or crochet you are not excluded.
As we are a non-profit organization all of our costs for shipping/handling
of boxes, postage of newsletter, and operating costs are all
covered by Donation. We are supported by some wonderful people and organizations,
but unfortunately even their generosity has a limit. So therefore we are
always in need of support and help on many levels. If you or your company
would like to join the list of Financial Contributors please contact us
to discuss our current needs. A financial statement and LOI are available
upon request. Please help if you can, No amount is too small.
3. We have an affiliate program that is also growing
at a fast pace. Our Senior Program. Stitches From the Heart donates yarn
and supplies to many seniors who want to become members and help the children
we touch, but financially are unable to make the commitment needed to
help. We also donate the shipping of these supplies to the seniors, as
well as the shipping of the finished product back to our hub. When you
donate financially or with materials,
like those found on our wish list,
you not only help underprivileged children, you help bring these seniors
purpose and pride, and the knowledge that they still make a difference
in the world today.
